ASSISTANT MANAGER OF INTERPRETER SERVICES
Chicago Hearing Society/Division of Anixter Center


QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent.  Excellent written, interpersonal and communication skills, computer proficiency required.  Must be able to communicate via standard telephone.  Customer service or other business background preferred.  Knowledge of sign language and Deaf culture helpful. 

REPORTS TO:    Manager of Interpreter Services

POSITIONS SUPERVISED:  None

JOB DUTIES

ˇ         Receives interpreter requests and enters request into database.

ˇ         Assigns qualified interpreter(s)

ˇ         Completes assignment confirmations

ˇ         Responds to inquiries about interpreter services

ˇ         Maintains up to date information about CHS consumers

ˇ         Provides administrative assistance to employees who staff the after-hours pager.   Provides pager coverage, as needed.

ˇ         Compiles service statistics, as requested

ˇ         Collaborates with Manager and with Social Services and Advocacy department in application of existing laws requiring equal access for Deaf and hard of hearing people

ˇ         Ensures that department mailings are sent in timely fashion

ˇ         Works to ensure customer satisfaction through timely assignment of interpreters and confirmations of completed assignments

ˇ         Customer Education:  Increases customer knowledge and understanding of the field by explaining policies and procedures, the demands of the interpreting job and gathering as much information as possible about the assignment or potential assignment.

ˇ         Assists with other duties as assigned.

 

HOURS

Full time (40 hours per week)
