Certified Special Educator

Qualifications: BA/BS in Special Education or related field. Must have Illinois Special Education Certification or LBS in area required for assigned classroom.

Develop and implement functional, age appropriate, and community based educational, behavioral, and vocational programming for Special Education students between the ages of 3-21 who are excluded from public schools due to the severity of their behavior problems and/or the multiplicity of their disabling condition. The teachers of Stuart G. Ferst and Anixter schools interact with children who have a variety of abilities. This challenging position encourages students to strive to meet their potential while providing them with a safe and caring atmosphere in which to do so.

· $2000 “Sign-On Bonus"

· $3,000 “Retention Bonus”

· Extra pay for each relevant certificate, after the first one

· Extra pay for all work experience with persons with disabilities

· Extra pay for Spanish and/or sign language proficiency

· 5 weeks and two days off per year, divided up in spring, summer, and winter breaks.

· “Summer” schedule with shorter school days.
