Adult Community Transition Program
Community Developer

 

Qualifications: B.A./ B.S. in Social Service or related field and at least 1 year experience working with individuals who have developmental challenges; strong written/ verbal communication skills; computer literacy; car and valid driver’s license, with ability to pass background check to transport program participants

 

Reports to: Manager, Community Transition Program

 

Hours: Flexible schedule not totaling more than 20 hours per week. Monday through Friday workweek

 

Job Objective: Promote community awareness for the Adult Community Transition Program. Advocate on behalf of people with developmental challenges in order to develop ongoing volunteer experiences, paid work (jobs), educational opportunities and leisure activities within local communities.

Responsibilities to Include:

  1. Work with Program manager/staff to maintain familiarity with program/personal goals for the participants of ACT
  2. Market program mission to local merchants, businesses, and civic officials
  3. Develop ongoing contacts within the community which lead to volunteer and paid work, social and recreational opportunities for the young people of the program (*paid work for 2 program participants per year)
  4. Perform Job Coaching assignments as needed
  5. Ongoing communication with program manager to coordinate the community outreach efforts of the ACT Program
  6. Be available to program manager to assist staff in supervision of clients
  7. Assist in developing a database of community contacts
  8. Provide documentation of community contacts and results
  9. Complete Agency training including New Staff Training Week, CPR/First Aid, Non-violent  Crisis Intervention and other in-services as required.
  10.  Maintain a professional demeanor in both manner and attire as a representative of the ACT Program and of Anixter Center
  11.  Maintain timely compliance with all Accounting and agency paperwork requirements
  12.  Follow all agency safety rules and regulations
