SENSORY DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST Qualifications:
B.A. degree in social services or a
related field and six months experience working with persons with sensory impairments (visual, hearing) or high school diploma and 1 year day training experience working with persons with sensory impairments (visual, hearing). Proficiency in sign language as measured by a passing
score on the Agency administered proficiency examination. Must have the physical capacity to assist in behavior management, help transfer and physically assist individuals as needs dictate, and to lift and transfer program materials. Job Objective:
Sensory Impairment Specialist will be responsible for developing, designing
and implementing services, curricula, and teaching materials for persons
with deaf/blindness, deafness, or blindness, in communication, language
development, socialization, making choices, personal responsibility,
awareness and utilization of community resources, and career development. |
