The specialized services of Community Resources and Support (CRS) enable adults with developmental disabilities and mental illness to live and work successfully in the community. Working with CRS staff, individuals choose services based on their needs from seven tracks and can add other support services.
   

Chatterbox

Services include:

 

People with mental illness gain the skills and confidence they need to return successfully to community life.

  • Symptom management

  • Mental health awareness

  • Vocational exploration

  • Social opportunities

Connect Services include:  
Specialized skill training for people who are deaf or hard of hearing and have a mental illness.
  • Symptom management

  • Mental health awareness

  • Focus on deaf culture

  • Community reintegration

  • Vocational exploration

  • Computer basics

  • ASL enhancement, Braille

  • Skills for independent living

Vocational Enhancement Classes Include:  
Clients participate in groups designed to increase their vocational skills and independence.

 

  • Job-seeking skills

  • Job readiness

  • Work skills and habits

  • Interviewing skills

  • Referrals to job placement

Greater Life Classes and activities include:  
Individuals ages 55 and older participate in classes and community activities as an alternative to retirement.
  • Social Events

  • Music

  • Exercise and fitness

  • Mentoring children

  • Swimming

  • Plant and pet care

  • Connections with other seniors

  • Living biographies

Sensory Development Services and activities include:  
Participants who are deaf, blind or deaf/blind develop and enhance communication skills while learning to utilize and stimulate all of their senses.

  • Activities of daily living

  • Political awareness

  • Newsletter

  • Swimming

  • Making choices

  • Community integration

Social/Recreation Activities include:  
Individuals select activities aimed at increasing and fostering self-esteem, independence, community integration, leisure awareness and socialization.
  • Physical fitness programming

  • Special Olympic trainings

  • Life and self-help skills

  • Monthly social events

  • Community outings

  • Leisure education

  • Travel and adventure experiences

  • Environmental education trips

Wellness Services and groups include:  
Participants engage in interpersonal skill building, self-care and community involvement.
  • Art therapy

  • Dance/movement therapy

  • Music therapy

  • Expression and relaxation

  • Clubs to build social skills

  • Health and fitness

  • Resource area

  • Behavioral support

Additional support services
Individuals can supplement the above activities with these services:

  • Assistance Center: provides internal case management services to assist clients in learning how to make better, more independent choices in daily life.

  • Literacy: offers individualized instruction.

  • Paid work experience: offers an opportunity to earn wages and enhance work skills and habits.

  • Prevention: promotes healthy lifestyles through education and training.

  • Transportation coordination: advises on transportation services and teaches skills needed for self-transport.
