Illinois Association of Rehabilitation Facilities’ “William Schneider Achievement Award” was given to Harvey Walter, an individual served through Anixter Center’s Residential Services. The award recognizes someone served in an IARF member agency who has progressed, despite his or her disability, to a more normalized, independent lifestyle.

Public Relations Society of America - Award of Excellence for a public relations campaign titled, “How the Governor’s 2004 Budget will Impact People with Disabilities.” 

Chicago Hearing Society received the August P. Christmann Award for removal of communication barriers.  The award is given by the Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities.

Note: JWOD is a federal procurement program that sets aside a portion of all goods and services purchased by the federal government to be provided by people with severe disabilities. NISH administers the program and works with agencies like Anixter Center to provide those goods and services.
