Anixter Center’s people, programs, and services receive media attention
through a wide array of outlets. Below is a recap of recent coverage of the agency:

Chicagoland’s Pioneer Press ran a story on
September 13, 2007 in several of its north suburban editions on
the success of the fourth annual Lester J. Anixter Memorial Golf
Outing. The June 18 event raised a record $237,000 to support
services for children with disabilities. Next year’s outing will be
held
June 16.

USA Today ran a story on September 9, 2007 on a longstanding project of Anixter Center’s Lekotek program,
The Toys “R” Us
Toy Guide for Differently-Abled Kids.

The Chicago Tribune Magazine featured Anixter Village in the Sunday, September 2, 2007 cover story. Allan I. Bergman, president and CEO of Anixter Center, and Lynn Ostlund, program manager, were quoted along with founding partner Dr. David G. McLone and several residents.
The story emphasized the importance of independent living for young adults with spina bifida and related disorders.

Diana Nielander, director of Anixter Center’s Lekotek program, recommended toys for children with special needs as a guest of NBC 5 Chicago on Sunday, August 19, 2007.

A cover story in the May 31, 2007 edition of
The Chronicle of Philanthropy featured Anixter Center’s board of directors as a model “21st-century board.” The cover photo showed Board Chair MaryMargaret Sharp-Pucci along with several Anixter Center participants in the background. The
Chronicle is considered to be the journal of record for the nonprofit sector.
