Anixter Center honors Alternative Packaging of Downers Grove with customer of the year award

CHICAGO (October 31, 2003) — Anixter Center presented its Customer of the Year Award to Alternative Packaging of Downers Grove at the human service agency’s 24th Annual Awards Luncheon on October 24 at Hilton Chicago and Towers. For several years, Alternative Packaging has partnered with Anixter Center’s Packaging Service, a nonprofit business which provides jobs and vocational training for people with disabilities. Since November of 1999, Alternative Packaging has awarded Anixter Center contracts totaling $170,000, providing as many as 50 jobs for people with disabilities on an ongoing basis.

“We are thankful for Alternative Packaging’s loyalty to our Packaging Service,” Anixter Center Director of Industrial Services Al Pennacchio said. “Alternative Packaging also has gone above and beyond to support Anixter Center as we have fought to save state funding.”

The luncheon honored individuals and businesses that have made a positive impact on people with disabilities in the Chicago area. Anixter Center annually serves 4,000 people with disabilities through 70 programs at 35 locations.

“Alternative Packaging has truly enjoyed doing business with Anixter Center,” Alex Wallace of Alternative Packaging said. “We thank you very much for a job well done.”
