Anixter Center honors Schaumburg Expo Design Center for commitment to hiring people with disabilities

CHICAGO (November 11, 2003) – Anixter Center presented the Employer of the Year Award to Expo Design Center’s Schaumburg store at the human service agency’s 24th Annual Awards Luncheon on October 24 at Hilton Chicago and Towers. Expo Design Center has hired four workers with disabilities through Anixter Center in the past year. Expo Design Center proactively sought to diversify its workforce and continually keeps referrals from Anixter Center in mind as it hires new staff.
“Expo Design Center emphasizes incorporating people with disabilities into its staff,” Cindy Krebs of Anixter Center said. “They have been a dedicated partner.”
The luncheon honored individuals and businesses that have made a positive impact on people with disabilities in the Chicago area. Anixter Center annually serves 4,000 people with disabilities through 70 programs at 35 locations.
“It’s truly an honor to work with Anixter Center ’s clients on a daily basis,” Julie Kalata, Expo Design Center assistant manager, said. “We hope to fill more jobs and make more dreams come true.”
